Job Description

Based out of our Home Office in Greenwood Village, The Business Solution Architect (BSA) at Red Robin is the primary focal point in which business needs meet technological services. This role provides recommendations and insights that frame thinking, inform decisions and fuel business growth. Supporting and advising the Business Relationship Director (BRD), the BSA is responsible for understanding in-depth business requirements, operations, trends and the current technologies that enable them.
The BSA oversees the lifecycle of service enablement from Strategy, Design, and through Transition to Operation. A BSA must be able to successfully identify technology solutions for desired business outcomes so that vendor partners can successfully meet their Stakeholder’s ultimate strategic goals.This role is essential to the organization’s innovation efforts. This requires helping other business units (Operations, Alternative Channels, Innovation, Marketing, etc.) integrate new innovative technologies into existing technology stack and development of new entities that support innovative and new technologies. In addition, this role requires creative thinking and assists the Innovation Team with development of our next generation technologies.

Responsibilities: 

• Works with the BRD to engage IT Restaurant Operations’ (ITRO) stakeholders to develop detailed requirements
• Understands Stakeholder strategic direction for their business domain
• Identifies and evaluates competing service offerings from outside of IT
• Establishes and maintains a mapping of applications and technologies to the Stakeholder’s capabilities
• Designs and maintains architecture diagrams for all ITRO technologies
• Supports the BRD in building the business case for the strategic investment needs in the annual operational planning process
• Communicates service capabilities and priorities to service teams
• Engages BRD and leadership to understand Red Robin’s strategic direction and goals to create and manage the Enterprise Business Capabilities catalog, Product Backlogs, and Enterprise Roadmap
• Fulfills the Product Owner role in Scrum teams
• Works effectively through the Agile process. This includes: maintaining Product Backlog, participating and engaging in Product Backlog Grooming Sessions and Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-Ups, and Retrospectives. Executes product progress with as much accuracy as possible while being flexible to adjust accordingly.
• Represents all service team initiatives before the Enterprise Architecture Review Board
• Actively participates on Change Control Board and Security Council
• Tracks application and technology portfolios throughout operation through decommissioning
• Facilitates business improvement by developing collaborative relationships with stakeholders to understand detailed functional and non-functional needs for technology services
• Provides support to translate business needs and plans into capacity and performance requirements for services and IT infrastructure, and to ensure that future capacity and performance needs can be fulfilled• Accountable to define and implement communication protocols to support incident resolution with Stakeholders
• Provides support to ensure that the BRD continues to understand the needs of existing Stakeholders. Supports the BRD for maintaining the individual product backlogs.
• Provides support to understand and document the desired outcome of a service, and to decide if the Stakeholder's need can be fulfilled using an existing service offering or if a new or changed service must be created
• Collaborates with the BRD to identify new service changes
• When a new service is required, the BSA meets with the Stakeholder to document existing business processes, develop user stories, confirm data and user interface requirements, develop a testing strategy with approved acceptance criteria, and outline business performance objectives for the service
• Adheres to consistent, agreed upon process and tools
• Understands ITRO stakeholders’ strategic direction and goals; supports BRD by providing ITRO specific strategies
• Provides support to manage the service portfolio. Service Portfolio Management ensures that the service provider has the right mix of services to meet required business outcomes at an appropriate level of investment.
• Provides support to ensure that a Service Catalogue and Product Backlog are produced and maintained
• Provides support to assess a proposed major Change before authorizing the Change Planning, Build and Deployment phases
• Provides support to assess a major Change after it has been implemented, to verify if the Change has met its objectives (functional and non-functional) and to identify any lessons to be learned.
• Provides support to provide PMs visibility into technology risks and constraints
• Works with QA teams to develop test strategies, plans, scripts to validate the completeness of desired business functional and non-functional requirements; lead functionality testing where necessary; oversee release planning and execution prior to deployment
• Provides support to gather, analyze, store and share knowledge and information within Red Robin IT; promote structured knowledge management practices and knowledge distribution across the enterprise
• Develops events plan to test for stress, peak, endurance issues within the service portfolio

Qualifications: 

• Preferred:
•Proven track record and success in senior business analyst roles
•1-3 years of relevant IT BA experience
•Experience with IT Service Management
•CBAP, CCBA, ITSM, ITIL understanding and/or certifications
•Multiple years within Restaurant, Retail or Food and Beverage industries
• 2+ years experience with SaaS or hosted technology integration management
• Previous experience leading technology or business professionals to meet specific value objectives
• Past experience working across multiple domains with various executive stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field
• Certified Product Owner

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to collaborate, negotiate and drive business concepts into technology services with business partners
• Proven ability to think strategically and to communicate the strategy to others
• Capable of taking on a admin or configuration manager role for multiple domain specific technologies
• Strong understanding of IT operations and IT integration lifecycles, templates and methodologies
• Detail oriented and well-organized
• Superior analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities
• Experience in the management technology and service lifecycles
• Seasoned presenter in business settings
